Hi, I’m Melissa. I realize that taking the first step towards healing can be very intimidating and sometimes scary. I am honored to guide you through your journey as an encouraging, supportive, and non-judgmental counselor. Our relationship is very important to me, and I strive to create a safe place for you to explore all that you desire so that you can become the best version of yourself.

How I Help

At the onset of counseling, we will work together to develop a plan for counseling so that you can have success in making the desired changes in your life. I am available one evening per week for those whose schedules make it difficult to come in during the day. I also offer confidential video counseling to accommodate those who are not able to make it into the office for every session.

My Specialties

Depression/Anxiety/Work-life Stress

Life can be very difficult at times, presenting with various struggles that we are not always equipped to deal with. Anxiety and worry can lead us to feel overwhelmed, tired, and even physically sick. Depression can cause us to feel defeated and even hopeless at times. I strive to help you so that you can manage these burdens in a healthy and effective way so that you live your life with more peace, joy, and acceptance.

Trauma/Grief/Loss

Many people experience trauma in their lives that will often go unresolved. Trauma can come from an event that occurred once, many times, or even over several years. When left untreated, it can manifest itself in many emotional and physical ailments and suffering. I strive to get the root of the trauma and guide you through the healing process. Recognizing that each person heals at a different pace, I will never rush this process, but instead, respect your unique experiences and process.

Adolescent Therapy

The teenage years can be a very confusing and difficult time. The challenges of academics, friendships, family conflict, and physical changes can leave teens feeling lost, confused, and even very depressed. I hope to relieve this burden for you and provide the tools necessary for living your life to the fullest and feeling a sense of peace, connectedness with others, and love for yourself.

Family Therapy

We all long to be part of a family system that feels safe, supportive, and loving. But sometimes, we feel alone, disconnected from our family, and have difficulty communicating our needs with them. Sometimes, families need help reconnecting and learning better, more effective ways of communicating with each other so that each member can feel a great sense of connectedness and security. I strive to accomplish this with family therapy, as I take a look at the parts that each family member plays in the family system.

More About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I received my bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the State University of New York at Cortland and my master’s degree in Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio.

I am a wife and a mother of two children. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, biking, hiking, swimming, reading, and taking trips to the beach or the mountains. I’ve recently begun learning the guitar with my son, which has been very fun!

Since my Christian faith is important to me, I often spend time in prayer to deepen my relationship with God and strive to raise my children in this manner.
