Hi, I’m Madison. I have experience working with both adult individuals, male and female, and couples in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, as well as relational conflict and repair. I am holistic and person-centered in my approach to counseling. I value considering the interconnectedness of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being and listening with empathy and a nonjudgmental attitude.
As your counselor, my goal is for you to feel safe and cared for when in my presence. A safe and healthy therapeutic relationship is foundational to growth, healing, and restoration. In our time together, we will work alongside one another to understand your story and what makes you uniquely you. We all have a story that deserves to be met with compassion and curiosity. Whether you have experienced past wounds, present-day stressors, or future worries, we will work together to make sense of it all.
As a Christian, I believe every human being has dignity, worth, and value. I have been uniquely trained to integrate Christianity and psychology, coupling faith-based principles with evidence-based counseling modalities. If you would like to incorporate Christianity into our sessions, I would be happy to do so. If Christianity is not your faith tradition, please know that I respect you and your beliefs and will never impose my beliefs on you.
Trauma/Grief/Loss
There is a complex emotional landscape that can follow traumatic experiences. Trauma, grief, and loss can have the ability to make us feel that we are stuck. There is hope that you will experience the joy found in healing and processing the trauma with time. I have received formal training and supervision in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a popular therapeutic modality for trauma, grief, loss, addiction, and PTSD.
Anxiety/Depression
Sometimes, life, stress, and our past can pile up, making us feel overwhelmed and out of control. Whether you are experiencing generalized anxiety, chronic depression, or situational stress, we will work together to develop healthy and effective ways to cope, explore the root causes of your emotions, and walk towards rediscovering peace.
Couples/Relationship Counseling
Relationships are a beautiful gift. Sometimes, past trauma, life transitions, and early family experiences shape how we interact with our significant others and cause distress. Every relationship has the potential for growth and healing. I offer a warm and supportive environment where couples can explore their relational patterns and strengths, work to improve communication and intimacy and build a deeper connection with one another.
Sexual Compulsions/Addiction and Pornography Addiction
Whether it’s a pornography addiction, sexual addiction, or unwanted sexual compulsions, I offer a trauma-informed, compassionate, and holistic approach to exploring your experiences and emotions. I understand the complexity and sensitivity of these issues and draw on nonjudgmental, evidence-based practices and modalities to foster healing, growth, and, ultimately, freedom.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I am a North Carolina native and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at UNC Charlotte and my Master’s in Christian Counseling from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. I love to learn and enjoy listening to audiobooks and podcasts and watching documentaries. I enjoy cooking and baking for friends and family, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with my husband and daughter. In my spare time, you can always find me perusing a thrift store with a coffee (iced, please!) in hand.
