Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Registered Play Therapist
Hi, I’m Caroline. I am honored you are here. Does it seem like feeling worried is a constant state for your child? Does your little one have a hard time speaking up for their needs or practicing confidence? Would you like them to be able to self-regulate and listen to their body signals better? Do you wish you had more tools in your parenting “tool-box”? Your child did not come with a manual and children yearn to be truly seen, heard, and understood. I can help facilitate this process for your family and guide your child back to their greatest gifts.
My style of counseling is strengths-based, collaborative, and gentle. I strive to create an environment of authenticity and openness. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of therapy. I love to incorporate mindfulness and help both children and parents to slow down and notice their inner world.
Play Therapy
Play therapy can be a key element to a child’s growth and development. In the playroom, a child’s inner world is shown through their play and meaning is reflected by the supporting play therapist. A child feels seen and understood. With specific toys and activities, I allow the child to lead the play and make choices. Through our relationship, communication will improve, self-esteem will boost, we will practice mindfulness and autonomy, and problem solving.
Parent Counseling
Your role as a caretaker is hard and so important. You might feel like you are spinning your wheels some days. I want to help you create structure, explore values, process hard situations, and build language, tools, and techniques. You are an integral piece of my work with your child and I want to offer you a non-judgemental space (separate from your child’s time) to process, grow, and learn.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Nationally Certified Counselor. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I have specific training in mindfulness and Internal Family Systems. I have a passion for helping families struggling with chronic illness - especially, autoimmune conditions like PANS/PANDAS.
I am a very curious person at heart and I love exploring new places, restaurants, and cultures. My husband and I try to travel to at least one new country each year. I enjoy being in nature, exercising, and socializing with friends and family. Charlotte has been our wonderful home since 2013.
