Hi. I’m Carol and I enjoy helping individuals, couples or families who find themselves struggling in life and relationships. I feel that our working relationship is very important and strive to earn your trust and create a safe place to dive deeper. I love helping people connect the dots from the past to the present and explore their stories using evidence-based models of therapy. I feel strongly that deeper and more holistic approaches to a therapy journey create more fundamental and long- lasting change.

As clinical director of Bareiter Counseling Center, I love learning and passing on knowledge as well as fostering the person and professional identity of the therapist with our clinicians. We feel strongly about having a sense of community, mutual support, respect and learning together.

How I Help

As clinical director of Bareiter Counseling Center, I love learning and passing on knowledge as well as fostering the person and professional identity of the therapist with our clinicians. We feel strongly about having a sense of community, mutual support, respect and learning together.

My Specialties

Clinical Training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Experiential Therapy

As a certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I am very passionate about teaching this therapy model to whoever may benefit from this approach – counselors new to this approach, marriage and family therapists, pastors, or pastoral counselors. Those with a working knowledge of IFS and/or who have attended the IFS Institute’s training may benefit from deepening their work through advanced workshops or advanced ongoing supervision groups. This evidence-based therapy model is transformative on a deep level – getting to and healing the roots of wounds that may impact you or your clients today. Through a group or workshop setting, I love the power of developing the person of the therapist. Group training offers the opportunity to learn these approaches to therapy and look at your

own story for personal growth.

Intensive Therapy for Individuals, Couples and Groups

In our experience with intensive, depth-oriented therapy, Bareiter Counseling Center therapists have found it to impact clients profoundly.  Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relapse prevention, or trauma, this shorter-term, longer-session therapy may be the best option to propel you into deeper healing.  We will meet with you for a first/intake session to determine if this fits you well.  If so, we will determine your goals.  I would then customize an approach based on your needs and desires in therapy.  Setting everything else aside to focus on your healing for a specified amount of time is powerful.

I find it a privilege to walk with you through the exploration of your story and struggles, creating a plan specifically for you.  I would primarily implement Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy for individuals and couples.  In addition, techniques from the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples would be included for couples.

Trauma

I have a special interest in gently helping you explore the impact of the hard experiences you may have had that impact you today. We will look at all aspects of your life that have shaped you, at your pace and help you heal and find peace and freedom in this journey. This can take place in individual or couples therapy.

My primary modality with trauma is Internal Family Systems (IFS), if this seems like a good fit for you - it has proven to be a highly effective and sought-after form of therapy for trauma and PTSD.  It goes beyond the surface and merely cognitive understanding of your story.

So often, clients feel discouraged or don’t believe they can heal or move beyond the event or dynamics that have wounded them.  There truly is hope - we can always change - it may be slow and an arduous process - but, you will increasingly see  transformation.

How I Work

What is most important to me when you begin therapy is creating a safe and nurturing place for you to explore your story. Our working relationship is the foundation on which we can do the depth work. I often get a detailed family history and then learn more about your true self and parts of you that may seem to block you from a peaceful and joyful life.

As a Christian, my faith informs my worldview, and I am trained in integrating faith and psychology.  If you would like, I find it an honor to include your beliefs in our therapeutic process. If Christianity is not your perspective, know I respect you and will not impose my beliefs on you.  I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space for our work together and feel privileged to journey with you.
