Carol J. Hollandsworth

MA, LPCS, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Hi.  I’m Carol and I am passionate about helping individuals, couples or families who find themselves struggling in life and relationships.  I feel that our working relationship is very important and strive to earn your trust and create a safe place to dive deeper.  I love helping people connect the dots from the past to the present and explore their stories using evidence-based models of therapy.  I feel strongly that deeper and more holistic approaches to a therapy journey create more fundamental and long-lasting change.

How I Work

What is most important to me when you begin therapy is creating a safe and nurturing place for you to explore your story.  Our working relationship is the foundation on which we can do the depth work.  I often get a detailed family history and then learn more about your true self as well as parts of you that may seem to block you from a peaceful and joyful life.  I love diving into your spiritual journey if you would like this as a part of your therapy.

My Specialties

I have a special interest in gently helping you explore the impact of the hard experiences you may have had that impact you today.  We will look at all aspects of your life that have shaped you, at your pace and help you heal and find peace and freedom in this journey.  This can take place in individual or couples therapy.

Or, you may be interested in getting deep healing through more intensive group therapy.  No matter the level of trauma, exploring with others in a group may the right setting for you.  If you feel like you are alone in your struggles, a group can be a powerful and supportive environment in which to heal.

Addictive behavior can be a block to living the life you want to live – there is no shame in admitting you may struggle in this area.  I love to help people explore addictive patterns and the roots of these that may have come (in part) from adverse childhood experiences.  In addition, I welcome helping those who have significant others caught in the web of addiction heal from the wounds this disease creates in relationships.

Clinical Internal Family Systems
Individual, Triadic or Group Supervision

I am passionate about teaching the Internal Family Systems model of therapy and developing the person of the therapist in a group setting.  You will get to practice the model and utilize other methods of experiential therapy – learning through discussing topics, case presentation and practice.  I offer supervision for LPC and LMFT in North and South Carolina.

More About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor, and, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor – all in both North and South Carolina.  I love learning and am certified in Internal Family Systems and have post graduate training in trauma healing, Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level II), psychodrama and experiential therapy.

When I’m not working or training, I am enjoying time with family and friends, travelling overseas, taking short weekend trips to the beach or mountains, reading, biking, game nights with the neighbors or connecting with God through journaling and writing.
